Welcome to the Religion Department

The religious education program at St. Michael Catholic Secondary school is designed to give a broad overview of important elements in the Catholic faith. Topics covered over the four years, include; scripture to sacraments to ethics to world religions which will ground students in a Catholic world view. Catholic education is not confined to intellectual formation alone but to a student's emotional and spiritual growth as well. Students participate in retreat experiences in grades 9 to 12, assisting at Knights Table, Regeneration and St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica, and have been involved in developing faith activities for younger children. “Catholic Education exists to inform, form and transform students according to the message of Jesus as it comes to us through scripture and the living tradition of the Church. The Religion Program is intended to provide instruction in the faith and the skills needed for moral decision making. These are life skills which will serve our students long after their formal education has been completed.” (DPCDSB)
